Development Director - Full Time Exempt Mankato, MN

In partnership with the Executive Director, thisposition is responsible for all fundraising and development activities.
Thesuccessful candidate will help forge new relationships to build the Y'snonprofit visibility, impact, and financial resources.
The Development Directorwill design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key externalalliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support.
The Development Director will have primaryresponsibility for establishing and implementing the infrastructure needed toincrease contributions through the solicitation of major gifts, federal andstate grants, special events, private grants, corporate and foundation support,United Way annual support, and all planned giving.
Essential Functions:
1.
Design and execute a comprehensivedevelopment strategy and philanthropic plan for the Mankato Family YMCA.
2.
Advance our work and major gifts inthe areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living, Volunteerism, and SocialResponsibility 3.
Collaborate with the ExecutiveDirector and Finance Director to develop and implement the annual campaign,other campaigns/fundraising and funding for all programs that align with the Ysmission.
4.
Support and partner with ExecutiveDirector, staff, and designated committees on all major fundraising activitiesand special events.
5.
Maintains an efficient and effective tracking and reporting system thatsupports the financial development efforts of the Y.
6.
Establishes and manages a comprehensive process for timely and accurate grantevaluation, quality compliance, project and program fulfillment and reportingto funders.
7.
Pursues, leads, collaborates, andguides staff through the grant process and other fundraising opportunities.
8.
Identify and engage volunteers thatsupport fundraising activities.
9.
Works with the Director of Finance toprepare annual department budgets for approval by the Executive Director,finance committee, and the YMCA Board of Directors.
10.
Represent and promote the MankatoFamily YMCA in the local community and develop positive, supportive working relationshipswith other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities.
11.
Develop and maintain key long-termrelationships with donors and prospects.
12.
Maximize organization capabilities andopportunities to further the mission of the Mankato Family YMCA through annual,capital and endowment fundraising.
13.
Directs the development,planning and implementation of organization's Annual campaign and other fundraisinginitiatives.
14.
Follow all YMCA policiesand procedures including Child Abuse Prevention.
15.
Provide Cause Driventours.
16.
Performs other duties as assigned bythe Executive Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications or equivalent, preferred.
Three to five years of successful experience in grant management or equivalent experience.
Demonstrated professional experience in a nonprofit organization, demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources) Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing relationships over time.
Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; ability to influence and engage a wide range of donors and build long term relationships.
A professional and resourceful style; the ability to work independently and collaboratively, to take initiative and to manage multiple tasks and projects at a time.
High energy and passion for the YMCA's mission is essential.
Never been accused or convicted of any form of child abuse.
Successful tracking record in applying proven practices related to developing successful grant proposals, collaborating with institutional donors, and the management of all related grant compliance and reporting practices.
Knowledge/clear understanding of fundraising techniques and strategies.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, peers, volunteers, customers and the general public.
Ability to meet deadlines, as well as the ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions, reason, and solve problems.
Ability to develop and use spreadsheets in standard business software systems.
Ability to collaborate and work with staff and volunteers as a team.
Ability to receive constructive criticism.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sufficient strength, agility,and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program activitiesin a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations (depending upon the programs).
Perform all physical aspects of the position, including walking, standing,bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 pounds at a time.
The ability tocalmly and effectively react in an emergency situation.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
